I'm not a huge sports fan, but there is one game that I watch every year: the Super Bowl. There is just something so fun about gathering around the television with friends, family, and a big pile of food, even if we are only watching just one game a year. Okay, and the commercials.
I remember my first Super Bowl party back in 1993. My parents invited over everyone we knew and my mom made a giant pot of chili. The Dallas Cowboys not only played, but won! And last year, the game was held nearby in Arlington. That was really exciting, even though we didn't go to the stadium. In fact, we were huddled up inside our house for days with a ton of snow outside.
If you are planning on having a party to watch the game, it is easy to go overboard and spend too much. According to a survey by Harris Interactive, 70% of respondents plan on hosting a get-together at home. Additionally, two-thirds will try to spend less than $50 on snacks for their party.
